GOD DAMN! Does anyone take pride in their little restaurants anymore? I have had my eye on a little place called Rick's Bistro that serves breakfast. Thought I would finally try it out. So I walk in at 1pm and I am the only customer there. I asked if I could still get breakfast. The waitress says yes! So., I am actually really happy and smiling at this point. The place is cute and clean. The table sign has a picture of Rick the chef. I look in the back and that is actually him cooking. At this point I think, "Hey, good little place." So I order 2 egg breakfast with a bagel and a the same to go order for a friend. I had to sit through one hour of the movie "Miss Congeniality 2". I am pissed! I wanted eggs so I freaking waited. By this time there are 4 more tables and all of us with NO FOOD! When I get my food I ask for the check to see the ticket time--ticket time....13:07......time now.........FREAKING 13:55! For 2 eggs! Good god man, I am no chef Ramsey critic but this is a shit ticket time! I get my check and nothing is itemized just a total, "$17.98." WTF? So now I have to get the menu and add in front of the server and I get 14 bucks. The server is foreign and having trouble understanding me. Just saying , "Yes, Yes." Seriously? I am pissed now! I would hate to see the ticket times during a rush!

Come on Rick get it together man! Crap I could have went to Waffle House. I wanted home cooked breakfast. Look, this place has potential--but I see no reason to ever go back again!

PEPERON'--CHAMPIONS GATE ORLANDO

So this is a little bitty italian rest. There are not many choices in Champions Gate! so I gotta eat--I want something origonal. I see this place. Little --quaint! No specials for lunch--sucks----the menue is expensive. I order the Ham Panini. No damn ham on it! Then as I am ther for 30 minutes I hear that the owner has to go pick up her kid at 3 and is closing the restaurant. I saw 7---SEVEN---customers come in and leave because she said she closes form 3 to 5. I hope this place fails! This is just plain bad for business! I will never eat there again!

PS THIS PLACE HAS NO WEB SITE! JUST PLAIN SHITTY!

I came into the Flats today for a little Mex food. I was greeted at the door immediately! The server was very knowledgeable and helpful. I hope she is in college because that good attitude will go a long way in the world. The lunch and drink ran around 10 bucks. I sat outside because I smoke. It was a nice day so I was glad they had tables outside. They bring your food out to you here; nice. The food was average. After Agave Azule and chef Ramsey's show, it seems that all mexican food is crappy. But this is what I would say was a step above Taco Bell. I was checked on 3 times to see if I needed refils ro anything else.

Overall...decent place to catch a quick meal. Close to Universal; and the staff at this location is very friendly, helpful and happy! Thanks girls!

SAITO'S PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL-Leftovers!

Ok! So, I know I went for lunch and do not expect the lunch specials to be as great as the hibachi show. But I came away from this restaurant saying, "Damn I got ripped off!" I have gone into this place before and was not greeted; sat at the bar; and afer ordering I sat for 22 minutes waiting on the leftovers. I left! I tried again because I thought this place, "Had to be good!" I come in today @ 12:02 and the bar is full of bottles; which means that this space is not open yet. The greeters are rolling silver and not at the door. The bar is clean; bottles clean; decent decore; and pleasant staff. I was served on time today. If you work 9-5 you really have 30 min to get to the place and 30 min to sit down and eat.

I look at the menu and all the items for lunch were over 10 bucks. I endend up paying 2.50 for a tea; 10.95 for shrimp hibachi, and 2.25 for the rice! I did not know that the entree did not come with rice. The server asked, "Would you like fried rice or white rice?" I said, "Fried." My dumb ass did not know that the rice was not included with the shrimp hibachi that I ordered. My fault I am stupid. 2.50 for tea? It was not even some type of Tai Green tea; just some shitty lipton redneck tea(weak at that). The veggies were soggy. I know this was leftovers! I know!

I came away pissed that I spent a total of $19.75 for a freaking lunch that I could have gone to Panda Express and got the same meal for 6 bucks! I will not go back!

Get your shit together! For 20 bucks I wanted a freaking bad ass lunch; I will never forget!

Now I am new to Indian food so I only have one other place in Atlanta to compare it too. But I can say this as I venture out to eat new dishes. I bought a coupon for 13 dollars that allowed 30 dollars of food. The outside of the place is not too inviting. I am glad that the parking lot was open and all the cops were eating at the pizza place next door. Just looked like a poor area. After I arrived I was not greated by anyone. The woman at the door was working on filling a to go order for 2 people sitting at the door. Me and my guest leaned on the counter and looked over the entire menu before we were greeted.

We were not in hurry but, no one came after we were sat. The door girl had to serve us. The restaurant was not full either--I could tell that they had just had a rush before we arrived. Of course there is paper on the table because of the sauces but there was a large curry drip stain on the tablecloth underneath. The silver was rolled and it was hand pollished. I look for that! But only one fork and one knife. The foor was clean, the roof was clean. The decore was decent but pretty borring and just thrown together. They have shelves with statuets but the lighting was so damn bright. I wanted the lights down--it was not a romantic setting at all! I had to light my own candle after we were sat!

By the time we were waited on. I had ordered the entire meal and had time to go get smokes from the nearest store, smoke a cig, and came back to....yeahhhhh our beer arrived and I asked for a cold glass and accually got one. Now I am a little happier. God its freaking bright in here--lower them freaking lights for Shiva's sake! We ordered the lamb Kabobs for and app. Chicken Tikka for the main dish and split it, and Naan bread! All of the food was good--I enjoyed it. The Chicken Tikka portion was way to small and the Naan bread was not the best I have had before. It really reminded me of pizza or bread sticks from Domino's.

The total was 52 bucks; 15% gratuity added which I hate that! I would have tipped 10 percent due to the poor service and brite ass lights. But beig a bartender--if this was the perfect meal for 9 bucks I would have tipped about 25 to 40 bucks! Cus thats what a bartender does when they get free shit! With the coupon we had(Bought it on 50% off Orlando for 9 bucks and got 30 in food) it was well worth it and I enjoyed the food. This place has so much more potential. I would never eat there for full price; the coupon made it so worth it. All of the dishes run from 17 to 30 bucks--and for that price this place sucks! When I pay that at a titie bar I get BAD ASS service and a bad ass meal; oh and I get to see tities! the Shiva statue has tits but just not the same as live entertainment.

I am going on 3 visits now.
Being a bartender I like to sit at the bar. The first time I came in I had to wait on a loud spanish speaking lady talking to guy at the bar blocking the only 2 seats available. I had to stand and wait for her to finish her entire conversation before I could sit down. Then she was so loud and obnoxious I had to later move down 2 more seats. I later figured out that this is the owner.

From my bartender's POV.
Generally the bar looks clean and well stocked. I do notice fresh cut fruit for the drinks as well. I tried the $2.99 Margarita--total crap. I know its $2.99 but nasty! Tasted like pure sour mix and I had to run to the car and get a zantac before I shoot out my freaking gall bladder. The high end margartitas are better, allthough I thought they were weak. A good margarita should be shaken well and have some froth on the top. SHAKE A SOUR DRINK! They must have gone to one of those crappy bartender schools. The bartenders suck in my opinion and were not very attentive. They are all about the chics and the keeping the owner happy that always parks herself at the end of the bar.

Now for the good part!
I do love the food. Plenty of choice dishes of authentic Americanized Mexican cuisine. I say americanized becuse authentic is pretty shitty. They eat dam pig intestins in a flour tortia for gods sake. We dont need to eat that here in America.
Back to the food.
I have tried 4 different dishes. Great presentation on the plate. Expo does a great job at making sure the plate has no runover on the plate edges. Even thought the restaurant was full I received my food at a fair amount of time. The beef is cooked nice and tender without being rare. The vegetables were cooked perfectly as well. Not too soft with just the right amount of crunch and plenty of flavor. I suspect that everything is cut and prepared fresh to order. The rice and bean portions are just what I like to see-small. Most all Mex places load you up with garbage sitting on top of a pile of rice and beans that looks the same coming out as it did going in. The main dish is a good portion of food as well. The first time I bit into the enchilada--wonderful! I said, "Now this is what a fucking enchilada is suppose to taste like!" I also liked the fact that there was no fat or sinuew on any of the meat I had eaten.

One last thing...They hae a Mariachi band that walks around and plays. Now, they are very good, but DAMN I felt like Ben Stiller in that movie where the mariachi follows him all over the resort. My god I had a trumpet right in my face.....laddaa daddda ddda bup bah bah bah baba addaaaa! Just a little too much for me.

Overall I like this place and will defininitly eat there again and again. The prices all run around 10 bucks for a main dish. They have priced the menu well. My next mission is to try a fish based dish! See you soon Agave Azul!
